Stars is interactive, enabling creators to engage with viewers who have shown their support through comments and shout-outs. We recently launched new mobile options for getting started with Stars and for tracking earnings, as well as features to help creators interact with their fans more easily. Some of our top creators, including Ling and Lamb and Drywall Shorty, have already begun to earn money with Stars on Reels:

Wow, Stars has been so amazing. Our fans have been waiting to support us. The sky’s the limit with Stars!

Stars has been a way [for fans] to show that they really do like what you are doing and they value the content you are creating.

Make the most of Stars across a variety of formats

Creators like Dr. Jen Caudle, Lipstickfables and Hillary Klug found success with Stars by:

Regularly educating fans about Stars. Dr. Caudle tells her viewers about Stars in almost every video, reasoning that “people can’t take advantage of what they don’t know about.” Dr. Caudle and Lipstickfables both pin comments to remind viewers about Stars, in addition to mentioning Stars out loud in videos.

Telling their fans what Stars means to them. Dr. Caudle reframes the conversation away from asking for money directly, by explaining to her fans that Stars represents an opportunity for them to have a conversation with their favorite creators.

Posting videos consistently and frequently. Hillary Klug, who typically records herself performing dancing and fiddling routines, tries to post a new video every week. She sometimes reposts videos from her evergreen content library to make sure the newest members of her growing community are able to see them.

Rewarding and Recognizing Community: Lipstickfables shouts out her biggest senders and uses merchandise giveaways to encourage Stars use in real time. She selects fans sending Stars during a live video or Stars Party to receive a branded T-shirt or a hat.

Creating a sense of urgency, hype and buzz. Hillary Klug and Lipstickfables create Stars goals for fans to meet with rewards at the end (i.e. producing a bonus behind-the-scenes video or a Q&A video). Lipstickfables also recommends making it fun. “People get excited when they know we have a Stars Party: a Fiesta de Estrellas,” she said. “We make a big deal out of it. And every time we make it to a goal, we do a little dance to the intro song we have.”

Share your Facebook Reel

Wondering how to create your first Facebook Reel after you’ve onboarded to Stars? Learn how Ashley Mizell balances education and entertainment to build a successful Reels strategy on Facebook. Then, try out these best practices to amplify your Facebook Reels content strategy!

Cross Post from Instagram to Facebook: Easily share reels across the Meta family of apps. This feature helps you share your Instagram reels to your Facebook account seamlessly, engage your followers, and expand reach to new audiences on both Facebook and Instagram, without having to switch apps.

Relate to your audience: Create content that clicks with people. If they watch your reel and think, “That’s literally me,” you’re on the right track. Showcase situations that people can see themselves in. And look into the lens! Try using your selfie camera to create first-person, approachable content.

Share your unique POV: Showcase your personality, your contagious energy and attitude. Share your passions, teach people something new or share something that’s uniquely you.

Plot the plot: Great Reels are built off of storytelling. Some of the most popular ones have either a clear beginning, middle and end, or they have a strong hook or payoff, like a big reveal, punchline, or plot twist.

Be in the moment: Share your point of view on conversations of the moment. Whatever’s happening right now, people want to hear your take. Make sure you add your unique twist on the trending moment and that it’s relevant to your niche and audience. To help extend your reach, use one or two hashtags that are trending and/or relevant to your content’s themes. (Pro tip: Hashtags like #Explorepage or #Reels will not help you get featured.)

Start a trend: Inspire and start a trend that others can easily participate in or remix. Take cues from our Cultural Moments Calendar and connect with your community. Remember: Reels are not only meant to entertain, but also invite participation and creative collaboration.
