New ways to monetize

Below you’ll find some exciting updates about managing your presence and earning money doing what you love.

Helping You Earn Money

On Facebook, we’re expanding our fan support products - like Fan Subscriptions and Stars - by making them available to even more creators.

Fan Subscriptions: Fans can support you directly through payments that recur each month. Now any Page in these markets that meets our eligibility criteria can now sign up here.

Stars: Stars are great for helping you earn revenue on live streams. Your fans can buy Stars and send them to you in the comments. In addition, you can now set Stars goals, add automated thank you cards, and other tools in Creator Studio. Creators in these markets can express interest and get started here.

In-stream ads continue to evolve on Facebook, letting you monetize more types of videos with advertising.

Ads in Short-form Videos: Use image and post-roll ads to monetize content that are 60-180 seconds long with image and post-roll ads. We’re testing these two non-interruptive ad formats in engaging short videos, in addition to investing in monetization solutions for long-form content.

Ads for Live Videos: Live video can now be leveraged for ads like never before. From monetizing videos that were previously live, to enabling mid-roll ads that play during your live stream while your live stream continues to play in a smaller window.

New Ad Experiences: We’re working to increase overall payouts for creators in Watch. For instance, we’re testing the option for people to start watching videos in News Feed and continue watching in Watch after viewing a short ad.

We’re also expanding access for both Facebook and Instagram creators to Brand Collabs Manager, which helps you find potential brand partners and then collaborate with them.

For creators hosting events online, we’ve just started inviting Facebook Pages to a new way of monetizing called paid online events through a one-time access charge that’s collected when guests register to attend, and we’ll have more to share soon.

We recently announced some exciting updates about ways to make money through Instagram Live and IGTV too. For starters, we are testing Badges in Instagram Live, which viewers can purchase to support their favorite creators. Fans who have purchased badges in Live will stand out in the comments and unlock additional features, including placement on a creator's list of badge holders and access to a special heart.

We introduced ads in IGTV to support creators by sharing ad revenue. The video ads will be built for mobile and up to 15 seconds long. We’ll test various experiences within IGTV ads with a small group of creators and advertisers in the US, and will expand slowly over time as we improve the experience.

Earlier this month, we also unveiled exciting news about Facebook Shops and our investment in features like Instagram Shop, live shopping and more that make buying and selling easier online. Creators and brands will be able to tag products from their Facebook Shop or catalog before going live and those products will be shown at the bottom of the video so people can easily tap to learn more and purchase.

New Creator Studio Improvements

You’re likely already familiar with how to manage, post and monetize videos from one central location using Creator Studio. We’re pleased to share improvements to the Creator Studio experience with creating and scheduling posts in the Creator Studio app, the ability to log into Creator Studio using Instagram credentials, plus new insights.

Now we’re expanding video insights within Creator Studio to help you take more control of your content. You’ll find more detailed insights in the brand new Video Details Explorer dashboard, as well as hourly metrics for your videos.

As we test and learn, we’ll continue to unlock more ways to best support your creator journey and help you grow your business on Facebook and Instagram.
