Facebook at VidCon: All the Highlights

July 9, 2024

VidCon, an annual destination for digital creators in the US, hosted its 13th annual event in Anaheim, California, and Facebook was excited to be there!

To kick things off, Facebook hosted an intimate happy hour where Facebook creators could mingle and learn more about Facebook from the team. Want to go behind the scenes at the happy hour? Check out this Reel from our inimitable creator host for the week, TuckerComedy.

Over the course of the week, creators spent time at the Instagram Creator Cafe enjoying programming and interacting with various activities ranging from testing out Meta AI to capturing content with Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

Creators had the chance to attend a Facebook panel called “Stand Out, Cash In: Building Your Creator Career on Facebook” as part of VidCon’s Creator Track programming. Styled as a trivia game show, the session starred three creators as contestants who shared how Facebook can help creators succeed and monetize, challenging common misconceptions about the platform. From reaching an audience of billions, to building fan communities, to earning money in new ways, the session focused on how Facebook’s creator tools can help you stand out and cash in with three accomplished creator participants: Corey B, Jesus Garcia (MrChuy), and Becca Bastos.

Here are some quotes from our creator participants:

“On Facebook, you can monetize everything! Photos, videos, text posts, all kinds of stuff! I didn’t know that until this year - it’s amazing!” - Corey B. A lot of people don’t know Facebook’s Performance bonus program allows you to monetize text and photo posts. Follow these steps to check if you’re eligible to monetize on Facebook.

“Ads on Reels have been amazing for me. It’s surprising how much I’ve made, especially from really well-performing videos.” - Becca Bastos. Ads on Facebook Reels is an invite-only program. Check to see the requirements here.

“Facebook’s In-stream ads changed the way I do comedy. I started making longer comedy videos and it was a really big success.” - Jesus Garcia. In-stream ads allow you to earn money by placing short ads in your qualifying videos. Learn more about eligibility requirements here .
