Making it easier to learn from Facebook Community Standards violations

7 Ağustos 2024

We're introducing a new training for creators to make it easier to learn from Facebook Community Standards violations and maintain access to Facebook features.

We know everyone makes mistakes. That's why we're rolling out a new feature focused on educating — not punishing — most first-time Facebook Community Standards violators. Starting with Professional Mode users, this new training will help people learn from their mistakes rather than immediately incurring a formal warning.

Now, when a creator violates our Community Standards for the first time, they will receive a notification to complete an in-app educational training about the policy they violated. Upon completion, their warning will be removed from their record and if they avoid another violation for one year, they can participate in the "remove your warning" experience again.

If, however, they violate a policy again within the year, they will receive another warning, but it will no longer be removable. Specifically:

If a second violation occurs within a year after the initial warning removal, a warning will be issued to the Professional Profile which cannot be removed.

Subsequent violations could cause the account to have less reach and limited monetization opportunities.

Helping Creators Avoid Unintentional Mistakes

People should feel safe and empowered on Facebook, which is why we have policies in place to protect our community. But, we recognize that sometimes violations occur unintentionally. Violation notices can be alarming and in some cases disruptive, notably for creators that earn money on Facebook and can lose access to monetization tools as a result of these penalties.

Now, when a creator receives a violation notice they will get notified that their content has been removed and why, and will be offered the chance to remove the warning from their account.

Commitment to a Safe Community

We understand the importance of offering clarity on our policies and rules so that people can abide by them, and help us keep the Facebook community safe. We believe focusing on helping people understand why we have removed their content will be more effective at preventing re-offending, giving us not just a fairer approach, but a more effective one.

The most serious community standards — such as posting content that includes sexual exploitation, the sale of high-risk drugs, or glorification of dangerous organizations and individuals — are ineligible for warning removal. We will still remove content when it violates our policies.

Since we are not changing our stance on removing violating content, we do not anticipate warning removal to have a material effect on its prevalence. Today we are offering this warning removal to people using Professional Mode, and plan to roll it out more broadly in the coming months.
