TIPS AND TRICKS

Protect your videos

April 19, 2018

We understand how frustrating it can be to find your videos

posted on someone else's Facebook Page without your permission.

You've been able to report these videos if they violate your copyright. And now, you'll have an additional option to get credit when this happens, as a way to expand your audience. Starting today, we're accepting applications for a new version of our Rights Manager tool that's built especially for our valued creator community, helping you control where and how your original content appears.

Here's how it works:

Once you import the videos you want to protect, Rights Manager can automatically get to finding matches across Facebook and Instagram, notify you, and give you credit. You can still manually search for your videos too, but with Rights Manager at the helm you can spend less time scrolling and more time creating!

After you've submitted an application for Rights Manager, you'll hear back from us within a few days by email. All applications will be evaluated based on the individual’s need for Rights Manager capabilities and addressed on a case-by-case basis. Heads up: There are a few factors we take into account to approve a creator for Rights Manager. For instance, we want to make sure you create original content that you wholly own.

If your application is approved, getting started is no sweat.

First, import the videos you created directly from your library. Rights Manager will take it from there, finding any videos containing at least 30 seconds of content that matches yours. You can also adjust the match settings to increase or decrease the amount of time someone else's video should overlap with yours to generate a match, or specify if your settings should apply worldwide or only to certain countries.

Once you've imported your videos and defined Match Settings, Rights Manager will kickoff identifying new video matches, surfacing them in the Matches section. When your content is picked up on someone else's page, you can choose to automatically attribute credit via the ownership links feature. (That means your Page name will appear below the video, generating exposure and driving traffic to your page, as seen in the image below.) If you choose to, you can also block or report the matched content.

We are loving Rights Manager. We caught a couple of matches of our Easter video very early on and got them to credit us. So amazing to have this product! It's already made a huge impact on the growth of our Page.
