Get started as a Creator on Facebook

February 12, 2025

Welcome to Facebook! We're excited to have you join our community of talented creators!

Here’s some guidance to help you get started and grow on Facebook, so you can get back to doing what you do best—creating content and connecting with your audience.

And here’s some good news: As an established TikTok or YouTube creator new to Facebook, you may be eligible to earn up to $5,000 with the Breakthrough bonus program designed to help new creators succeed on our platform. Apply now

1. Set up your Facebook profile

Create a Facebook account

If you don't already have a Facebook account, start by creating one. This is your first step in establishing your presence as a creator.

Choose how you want to show up as a creator

Once you have a Facebook account, you need to decide between creating a Facebook Page or turning on professional mode on your profile:

Facebook Page: We recommend that established creators set up a Facebook Page as it allows you to assign admin and moderator roles to support page management and gives you access to advanced tools like Meta Business Suite. This will be a separate presence from your personal Facebook profile. See How to create a Facebook Page.

Professional mode: This is ideal if you are just getting started in your creator journey and want to use your personal Facebook profile to build a public presence while maintaining your personal connections. See How to turn on professional mode. Note that professional mode profiles are not eligible for certain tools or the Breakthrough bonus.

For more information, see Professional Mode or a Page?

Complete your profile or Page

Quickly let audiences know who you are and what you're about by adding a profile photo, cover photo, and completing your bio.

If you created a Facebook page, select your username to determine your Facebook URL. Using a consistent username across social platforms will help your audience find you on Facebook. Note this step must be done on a computer and will not work on mobile devices.

If you have selected to turn on professional mode rather than create a separate page, you can change your username in the Account Center.

Well-established creators with an extensive history of media coverage can apply for a courtesy blue check as a notable public figure. Alternatively, you can subscribe to Meta Verified.

Build credibility by linking your Instagram, Tiktok, and YouTube profiles to your Facebook profile or Page. You can also choose to display your follower count from these platforms. Check out this video to learn more.

2. Get started sharing content

Upload existing content

When starting a new Facebook Page or profile, posting Reels 2-3 times per day can help your content get noticed by new audiences. Leverage your existing content from other platforms or schedule your posts with Facebook's scheduling tools to make this easier. Be sure to remove any watermarks to optimize your content's performance.

Share your archive of up to 100 Instagram Reels to Facebook with a few easy clicks. Here's how.

Develop your content strategy

Facebook offers different content formats including Reels for videos up to 90 seconds, Video for content longer than 90 seconds, Live, photos, and text posts to help you express yourself, connect with new audiences, and earn money on your own terms.

Experiment with posting consistently, several times a day across formats and posting times to start seeing results. Check out this guide to learn more.

3. Make the most of your content with Facebook's tools

Familiarize yourself with Professional Dashboard

Professional Dashboard is your one-stop shop for creator tools and resources. Professional Dashboard helps you track metrics like reach, engagement and video views to get insights into how your content is performing, monetization eligibility and earnings, and offers guidance for how to optimize your content.

4. Grow your audience

Help your fans find you

Share an engaging video on your other social platforms with a call to action to follow your new Facebook Page or profile for more of the content they love.

Don’t forget to share your Facebook profile or Page link in your bio on your other social platforms.

Find new audiences on Facebook

Search for Facebook Groups related to your niche or interests in the Facebook search bar. Participate in group discussions, share your content, and build relationships with community members to connect with a broad audience that already shares your interests.

Collaborate with other creators and remix Reels to put your own spin on trending topics and content.

Engage with your audience

Make your audience feel valued by replying to and liking comments. Engaged followers are more likely to reshare your content and recommend your content to others. You can engage by navigating to posts directly, or by using the Comments manager tool in Professional Dashboard.

5. Get paid for your creativity

Explore our monetization opportunities

Facebook offers exciting opportunities for creators to monetize Reels, videos, photos, and text posts. There are multiple ways to earn money while doing what you love.

Facebook Content Monetization pays creators for posting videos, Reels, photos, and text posts under one set of eligibility criteria. Learn more about eligibility requirements here.

You can also receive recurring revenue through fan subscriptions and tips through Stars.

6. Stay Safe

Protect yourself and your account

Turn on 2-factor authentication to increase the security of your account, protecting your personal information and public platform. Read about your options and how to turn them on here.

Explore the Tools section of Professional Dashboard to understand how to receive support and manage your well-being with tools like Moderation Assist, which allows you to set criteria to automatically hide certain types of comments. Find out how here.

Familiarize yourself with what to do in the event that you suspect your page has been hacked here.

Review our Community Standards

Check your profile’s recommendation status from the Tools section in Professional Dashboard on your mobile device to make sure your content is able to be recommended to others.

Our Community Standards help keep both our creators and users safe. Make sure you follow these guidelines to keep your account in good standing.

Report impersonators & plagiarism

Well-established creators can apply for access to Rights Manager to protect their content across Facebook and Instagram with automated tools.

Any creator can report violations of their trademark or copyright in Meta's Intellectual Property Reporting Center, and ask that offending content be taken down. You can also report Facebook pages and Profiles that impersonate other people here.

7. Get support

Access Creator Support

Facebook provides Creator Support where you can find self-help resources about using creator tools. Creators can also sign up for Meta Verified, which provides access to impersonation protection and a live agent for personalized assistance.
